Is your Twitter Bio complete!!

Normally you hear people saying “Is your LinkedIn Profile Complete”. So what’s up with Twitter Bio being complete. I have come across many professionals saying that they not that comfortable with Twitter, it’s bit complicated. All I say is have you checked out New Twitter Profile!! And they end up saying – “It looks cool”, “It’s more like Facebook now” etc. Me not that worried about how similar its from Facebook or not. All I want that more and more HR Professionals to join Twitter.
Did you know that prospective candidates are looking at your Profile? In this case they are looking at your Twitter Bio. Twitter Bio is nothing but 160 characters of your description. The usual problem with Recruiter Bio is that it does not look like one. Me not saying that you need to have a pic with a resume in your hand. On LinkedIn we by default mention our skills, our designation etc. So why not Twitter. Have come across many bio’s on twitter where in its almost impossible to make out from the profile if that person is a recruiter or not.
No one is asking you to write in detail about yourself in Bio. Anyways you just have 160 characters to write about yourself. So what Recruiter / HR professionals can do is include some keywords that will help the prospective candidates to know more about you. What skills you hire or where you are working. Now you might ask, why should I write professional stuff on my Twitter Bio. Well, what is the harm is writing what you do and what you are working as? Hiring is your bread and butter, so why not highlight it.

This is also very important part for those who are into Social Hiring. So it’s a must for recruiters to ensure that they help the candidates by making it easy to approach you. Your Twitter Bio plays a vital role in making this process much easy. Also ensure that you use Hash-tags wherever necessary, as this will highlight your bio and get you more visibility. And don’t forget to add your LinkedIn Profile URL / Blog under the website section in Edit Profile. This will also help the candidates to visit your LinkedIn Profile / Blog. Also it will help your followers to know more about you via the URL link that you choose to provide.

Example of Hashtags :

#SocialRecruiting #Recruiter #Sourcing #HR #Add Skill that you hire (#Analytics , #Java etc), #Your Company Name

It does not mean that you only have Professional Details in your Twitter Bio. Also try to add in a personal flavor to your bio. You can write about your personal creative qualities such as Music, Blogging, Movie Buff, Photographer, Singer, Biker etc.
So what are you waiting for? Go ahead create your Twitter Bio.

  1. Good one Kunjal, one more thing that could be added is it a quick social learning tool. One can learn different topics of their choice by following the relevant people and learn from them.
